Sidiki Camara will mark the release of his new album Ankaben with an album launch concert at Cosmopolite Scene in Oslo on October 18, 2026. The album itself will be released on September 4, following a lead single on August 21.
The Malian-born percussionist, who has lived in Oslo since 2006, has built a career around connecting traditions and people. His collaborations have included major international figures such as Boubacar Traoré, Bill Frisell, Ali Farka Touré, Mamady Keita, Karpe and Esperanza Spalding. He also contributed to Frisell’s Grammy-winning album Intercontinentals.
On Ankaben, Camara is joined by Norwegian musicians Bendik Hofseth, Unni Løvlid, Sarah Camille, Erik Sollid, Jacob Young, Audun Erlien and Eirik Askerøi. The album was recorded at Rainbow Studios in Oslo and follows the live project Sidiki Camara // A Life in Music, first presented at Oslo World in 2024.
Camara will also appear at several Norwegian events around the album period, including Drammen Sacred Music Festival on September 16, Djembe Tekno at Holmlia Kulturhavn on September 19, and a Sidiki Camara Group performance at Holmlia Kulturhavn on November 7. With Ankaben, he continues to present music as a force for humanity, joy and cross-cultural understanding.
